The Seven Stone Ring

This ring is a copy from an original in a private collection.  Other identical rings are displayed at Ft. Michilimachinac, Ft. Ouiatenon, Ft. St. Joseph, Ft. Niagara , the Museum at Rochester, New York and many other sites.
Quite simply, stone set rings are found at most 1750 to 1850 archaeological sites.  Hudsons Bay Company also lists them in their 1750's trading records.
The "stones" or "sets" in these rings were, in the 1750 to 1850's, molded and faceted glass (called "Paste").
I make these rings in brass or sterling silver and use laboratory grown Spinel and Corundum sets of various colors.
